Republicans signal capitulation on national debt ceiling and Fannie/Freddie privatization.
By Lee Bellinger, Publisher
"GOP Sellout Alert! New developments in the economy and in Washington strongly suggest that America’s biggest export will continue to be debt instruments against a backdrop of economic decline. It is paper bugs – not gold bugs – who should be lying awake with worry at night. GOP Reverses Course and Moves to Bail Out States
I already reported that Speaker-elect John Boehner (R-OH) hadn’t even measured the curtains for his new office before signaling that his incoming GOP House majority intends to lock in all the new spending undertaken by the Obama Administration.
Even as Boehner affirmed that Republicans would increase the national debt ceiling (a “bump” in the national credit limit to fund a shocking 43-cent debt gap for every single federal dollar currently being spent – including for Obamacare and many other new boondoggles), many Republican pundits have stated confidently that the new Congress would stop bailouts to bankrupt states. Wrong!
In fact, some conservative pundits are urging Congress to pass laws making it less difficult for states to declare bankruptcy (essentially so they can rescue taxpayers from contracts awarding things like platinum-plated union benefits that are sinking the states).
Top GOP Leader Signals New Taxpayer Bailout of States. Enter Congressman John Mica (R-FL) to the rescue of overpaid, under-worked government employees! The incoming chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Mica is a powerful backer of continuing the Obama Administration’s backdoor bailout of bankrupt state governments.
This state debt nationalization scam is officially known as Build America Bonds (BABs). Its insidious effect is to enable financially reckless states to borrow even more from bond markets rather than be forced to address their bloated budgets.
Insolvent states such as California are enabled to pawn off their reckless decisions on American taxpayers through new markets created by these federally-backed bonds (taxpayers are on the hook for 35% of the lifetime interest payments). BABs implicit guarantee from Uncle Sam enables state governments to build their $2.8 trillion debt pyramid even higher – in concert with another $2 trillion in unfunded worker pension and health-care liabilities.
In December, Mica told The Wall Street Journal that “I can almost guarantee” that the program for subsidized bonds will be funded next year. So the federally-guaranteed muni bond market is set to expand, big time.
Of course, when it comes to future state government financial difficulties, many Republicans are likely to support back-door bailouts because the GOP has captured huge numbers of seats and majority control of many state legislatures (as well as governorships).
Bottom line: There will be massive pressure for the GOP to help their newly-won states avoid the messy accountability of bankruptcy, no matter the cost. This has massive implications for hard money investments since this new debt will ultimately need to be monetized through new money printing.
GOP Already Balking at Privatizing Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac
The incoming chairman of the House Financial Subcommittee, Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), has spent the last year bashing outgoing chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) for sinking the housing market by letting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac help bankrupt the U.S. banking system. But now he’s going to be chairman. Long gone is talk of re-privatizing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as proposed by Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX)!
Instead, incoming Chairman Garrett has already turned on the mood lights and cued up the tap-dance music, leading off in classic Washington double-speak last month: “You have to recognize what the impact would be on the fragile housing market as it stands now.”
That’s Right, Housing Markets Are Sinking Again. Despite all the federal intervention to spur more house construction in a saturated housing market, the National Association of Realtors note that a whopping 30% of all sales are distressed or are in foreclosure. This against a new Wells Fargo finding that housing prices will drop at least another 8% across the board in 2011…”demand is dead in the water,” notes Wells Fargo analyst Sam Bullard.
Moody’s chief economist Mark Zandi estimated in December that for every dollar decline in home value, consumer spending drops as well. So these numbers have huge implications, especially given that the newest Case-Shiller data show that all 20 major cities posted month-over-month declines in October, part of a larger ominous trend in personal wealth destruction.
With so little potential for surging new tax revenues, again note carefully the scary implications of the fact that for every single federal dollar now spent, 43-cents is pure debt. And this is just current spending – not yet reflecting insolvent cities and states, the coming pension fund shortfalls, and tens of millions of baby boomers about to swamp Social Security and Medicare.
The Republicans are simply not up for the job of getting Washington spending and bailouts under control. It’s full speed ahead toward economic ruin. Plan accordingly."

ObamCare Status
Voters Want It Repealed
Overwhelmingly, American registered voters want to see ObamaCare repealed totally. How strong is "overwhelmingly"? 75% according to the Rasmussen polls. Only 18 % want it left alone.
GOPs vs DEMs
It comes as no surprise that the DEMs want to leave the current law in place. Ironically, GOPs are divided evenly between repealing the law and doing nothing, or repealing the law and putting the popular provisions into a new government healthcare law. Are you kidding?
The Election Did Not Eliminate the RINOs
It seems that this split in the GOPs indicates the difference between true Conservatives and RINOs! (Republican In Name Only a euphemism for "Progressive"). Yes, you don't have to be a Democrat to be a Progressive.
Example: President Teddy Roosevelt was a "Republican" who did much to help the Progressive movement of that day. History neglects this fact and that he was related by blood to Franklin D. Roosevelt (a Progressive), but he instituted many government take-overs that were totally illegal and unconstitutional. Sounding familiar?
However, it should be clear by now that the Progressives have taken over the Democratic Party. In fact, they like to be called "Progressives" instead of "Liberals." Ironic? Yes! But nevertheless it should make you wary of the present Congress.
We need to watch them closely. John Boehner (Speaker of the House) is one of them. He voted for TARP, government bailouts, and government takeovers. Don't worry, the RINOs will show their true colors. Some already have. They are the ones who want to keep the PORK in government spending and increase the Debt Ceiling for more outrageous spending.
Action To Take
Unite and join a Tea Party or 912 Project in your local area. Become active and knowledgeable. Know what is going on. CARE! Learn how your Representatives vote on ObamCare repeal. Become active in politics or watch America change in ways you cannot believe. Try it, you'll like it!

GOP Take Fair Warning
Nov. Elections Were a Mandate
If you are a "Republican (GOP)" and got elected or re-elected in November, you are on PROBATION and you'd better be aware of it. We are tired of the "Good-Old-Boy" network in Washington. This is NOT a threat, but a promise. Just like the promise you made to voters while you were campaigning. You promised then to BAN earmarks and to cut spending for the next two years. Constituents are holding you to it!
The Truth About Pork Spending
Earmarks are corrupt. They swap OUR taxpayer money for campaign cash from special interests. They are also ILLEGAL! Earmarks are unconstitutional (you'd better care) because they are expenditures that are NOT authorized by the government and they do NOT benefit everybody. Earmarks are the gateway to bigger and more intrusive government. Since you took an oath to uphold the Constitution, DON'T start off by violating it! Oppose ANY measure to defeat your promise!
The Debt Ceiling
You also promised to STOP SPENDING! Remember? Many of your colleagues who were not up for re-election have NOT learned just what the last election meant. They'd better pay attention also. You need to unify and support a "NO" vote on raising the debt ceiling. We will reach the last limit passed in March this year. This gives you plenty of time to begin making SERIOUS decisions about where to cut and buy how much, so we can ALL live within our means. No more BS. Skip the finger pointing, and START CUTTING. Start with the EPA, FCC, the Federal Department of Education, and the military!
Constituents Are Watching
Things are different this time around. GOPs had better live up to their campaign promises. The Tea Party is NOT going away anytime soon. We believe in smaller government, fewer regulations, and balanced budgets.
Americans do not want reactionary legislation from Congress, nor do we want a bunch of elected LIARS! Fulfill your campaign promises and LISTEN to the people who voted you there for a change! If not, we strongly vow to vote you out in the next election cycle.

Guest Article - Free Speech & Dissent
America's Enduring Strength
by Sarah Palin
"Like millions of Americans I learned of the tragic events in Arizona on Saturday, and my heart broke for the innocent victims. No words can fill the hole left by the death of an innocent, but we do mourn for the victims’ families as we express our sympathy.
I agree with the sentiments shared yesterday at the beautiful Catholic mass held in honor of the victims. The mass will hopefully help begin a healing process for the families touched by this tragedy and for our country.
Our exceptional nation, so vibrant with ideas and the passionate exchange and debate of ideas, is a light to the rest of the world. Congresswoman Giffords and her constituents were exercising their right to exchange ideas that day, to celebrate our Republic’s core values and peacefully assemble to petition our government. It’s inexcusable and incomprehensible why a single evil man took the lives of peaceful citizens that day.
There is a bittersweet irony that the strength of the American spirit shines brightest in times of tragedy. We saw that in Arizona. We saw the tenacity of those clinging to life, the compassion of those who kept the victims alive, and the heroism of those who overpowered a deranged gunman.
Like many, I’ve spent the past few days reflecting on what happened and praying for guidance. After this shocking tragedy, I listened at first puzzled, then with concern, and now with sadness, to the irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame for this terrible event.
President Reagan said, “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not with law-abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not with those who proudly voted in the last election.
The last election was all about taking responsibility for our country’s future. President Obama and I may not agree on everything, but I know he would join me in affirming the health of our democratic process. Two years ago his party was victorious. Last November, the other party won. In both elections the will of the American people was heard, and the peaceful transition of power proved yet again the enduring strength of our Republic.
Vigorous and spirited public debates during elections are among our most cherished traditions. And after the election, we shake hands and get back to work, and often both sides find common ground back in D.C. and elsewhere. If you don’t like a person’s vision for the country, you’re free to debate that vision. If you don’t like their ideas, you’re free to propose better ideas. But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.
There are those who claim political rhetoric is to blame for the despicable act of this deranged, apparently apolitical criminal. And they claim political debate has somehow gotten more heated just recently. But when was it less heated? Back in those “calm days” when political figures literally settled their differences with dueling pistols? In an ideal world all discourse would be civil and all disagreements cordial. But our Founding Fathers knew they weren’t designing a system for perfect men and women. If men and women were angels, there would be no need for government. Our Founders’ genius was to design a system that helped settle the inevitable conflicts caused by our imperfect passions in civil ways. So, we must condemn violence if our Republic is to endure.
As I said while campaigning for others last March in Arizona during a very heated primary race, “We know violence isn’t the answer. When we ‘take up our arms’, we’re talking about our vote.” Yes, our debates are full of passion, but we settle our political differences respectfully at the ballot box – as we did just two months ago, and as our Republic enables us to do again in the next election, and the next. That’s who we are as Americans and how we were meant to be. Public discourse and debate isn’t a sign of crisis, but of our enduring strength. It is part of why America is exceptional.
No one should be deterred from speaking up and speaking out in peaceful dissent, and we certainly must not be deterred by those who embrace evil and call it good. And we will not be stopped from celebrating the greatness of our country and our foundational freedoms by those who mock its greatness by being intolerant of differing opinion and seeking to muzzle dissent with shrill cries of imagined insults.
Just days before she was shot, Congresswoman Giffords read the First Amendment on the floor of the House. It was a beautiful moment and more than simply “symbolic,” as some claim, to have the Constitution read by our Congress. I am confident she knew that reading our sacred charter of liberty was more than just “symbolic.” But less than a week after Congresswoman Giffords reaffirmed our protected freedoms, another member of Congress announced that he would propose a law that would criminalize speech he found offensive.
It is in the hour when our values are challenged that we must remain resolved to protect those values. Recall how the events of 9-11 challenged our values and we had to fight the tendency to trade our freedoms for perceived security. And so it is today.
Let us honor those precious lives cut short in Tucson by praying for them and their families and by cherishing their memories. Let us pray for the full recovery of the wounded. And let us pray for our country. In times like this we need God’s guidance and the peace He provides. We need strength to not let the random acts of a criminal turn us against ourselves, or weaken our solid foundation, or provide a pretext to stifle debate.
America must be stronger than the evil we saw displayed last week. We are better than the mindless finger-pointing we endured in the wake of the tragedy. We will come out of this stronger and more united in our desire to peacefully engage in the great debates of our time, to respectfully embrace our differences in a positive manner, and to unite in the knowledge that, though our ideas may be different, we must all strive for a better future for our country. May God bless America."

Exploiting a Tragedy
Don't Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste
Are you sick of the headlines yet? You should be disgusted too. They're full of political rhetoric about the shooting in Arizona. It seems like the far left Progressives (alias "Democrats") have rolled-out a massive political campaign at the expense of the victims in the Arizona shooting. That's DISGUSTING!
The Facts Prove the Point
The truth cannont be denied. Taking a page form Glenn Beck, just quote the people who are politicizing this issue. Here are several examples:
Note the Political Affiliations
Take a hard look at the political party represented exclusively in the examples above. The political attacks originated from the Democratic Party. No wonder they are loosing white voters in droves! Is this YOUR party? Do they represent your beliefs?
Their unsubstanciated accusations are deplorable!

How Bad is the National Debt?
We Owe 14 Trillion
This number is dynamic and is growing as we speak. Today we owe approximately $14,000,000,000,000.
OK, so help me get my mind around this number. It's too big to comprehend.
Try This
You know how many seconds there are in a minute, so let's use this for your unit of measure.
There are:
You live your first 1,000,000 (one million) seconds in roughly 11.6 DAYS! If you take the time to calculate; there are 31,449,600 Seconds in a year.
You live you first 1,000,000,000 (billion) Seconds at approximately age 31+ years!
Finally, you reach your first 1,000,000,000,000 (Trillion) Seconds in only 3,180 Years!
National Debt
We can NEVER PAY BACK what we owe in your lifetime. We cannot pay back what we owe in your kid's lifetime. We cannot pay back what we owe in your grand children's lifetime. Is there any need to continue with this demonstration?
We as a nation owe more money than we can ever think about paying back. Thank a politician for that. Thank most politicians for that.

Keep an Eye on the Other Hand-ALWAYS!
This Guy is Relentless!
OK everybody, Obama just tried to sneak Death Panels back and we caught him. Then he backed-down after being discovered red-handed! Now Obama is trying to attack free speech yet again! (search this blog for "free speech" and see how many times Obama has tried to steal it).
What Do We Mean?
This guy never quits! The Obama administration is constantly pursuing a relentless attack on YOUR freedoms - almost 24/7! If you don't watch closely, they will steal your liberties faster than you can wink.
The Obama Administration is using "regulation" as there means to take over things. Here are two recent examples:
As if "regulating" the Internet isn't enough, Obama is considering giving the US Commerce Department the power to "regulate the Internet by requiring everyone who uses it to have an Internet ID registered to their name or business. So now we have a two pronged attack against the Internet. If one fails, the other one will succeed - or at least that's the apparent strategy. This guy REALLY wants to control YOUR speech. His actions show it through over-regulation.
Obama wants to create an "Identity Ecosystem" to centralize efforts towards creating Internet control. This will be called: the "National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace Act." What does this mean? He wants to appoint a "Cybersecurity Coordinator," to do this. Just what are the responsibilities of this person? Let's see the job description. What are the limits of government controls? We don't know because they don't tell us.
Isn't this akin to giving everyone a National Identification Card? Didn't they do this in Nazi Germany? If stopped by the police you had to show your ID or be arrested. Obama wants the equivalent for the Internet. The government representative for this initiative, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, said not to worry that "We are not talking about a government-controlled system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and privacy and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital identities."
Why do we need the government to control this in the first place? Who died and put them in charge of regulating your lives?
Trust the Government? HA!
Don't believe that Crap! Look at how well the creation of TSA turned-out. Sure, we have nothing to worry about. That organization can take pornographic pictures of you and distribute them to numerous government agencies, or they can commit sexual harassment in public whether you like it or not. Is this why TSA was originally created for in the first place? No!
Yeah, we trust the government to keep its word.
Action To Take
Speak loudly and clearly and let the White House know that you will NOT stand for this "regulation." Tell your Representatives as well. If you don't, ACHTUNG Comrade! Show me your Internet ID or get off the web!

The Obama Administration is using "regulation" as there means to take over things. Here are two recent examples:
- On December 21, 2010 the FCC "regulated" "Net Neutrality" which is a euphemism for the Fairness Doctrine. This in-turn is another word for INTERNET CENSORSHIP! Obama's cronies just decided to grab power over the Internet - forget the Constitution and the Bill of Rights!! Who needs Congress?
- The EPA is now "regulating" carbon because they ruled it to be "dangerous." No one gave them the authority to do this. They have no right to do so. The government just took more power and we watched. So now the EPA is expanding their powers even more (because we let them) to try and control YOUR energy usage because Obama could NOT get Cap & Tax passed in the Congress. Who needs Congress when you can "regulate" what you want anyway?
