Big Sis - At It Again!

Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC)
Don't you just love the names that the Federal government comes up with for the name of some of their agencies and departments?

Thanks only to the Freedom of Information Act we found out the name and function of this new agency which is a division of Homeland Security. Otherwise, Janet Napolatano and her people would never have announced their existence or what they do for a living.

Just What Do They Do?
Back in February 2011, the Department of Homeland Security announced that this agency would begin to monitor media content (alias "Big Brother is Watching"). Skipping all the Federal jargon and usual BS, what this meant is that HMS is now monitoring (surveillance) the Internet's social networks and news organizations. Remember that?

Their "proposed initiatives" would be to gather information from online forums, blogs, public websites, and all message boards. In turn, HMS would, (and IS) disseminating this "information" to federal, state, local and foreign government officials. In order to "infiltrate" into these media, HMS would use individuals who would establish fictitious names and passwords to create "covert social media profiles" to spy on other users. All information gathered would be stored for no more than a period of five years.

Information They Feel Is Subversive
Of course we all know that this agency is there to "protect" us from the bad guys. You should know what they consider a "red flag" on their radar screen. HMS has hired outside "contractors" to monitor anything that "reflects adversely" on the agency itself, OR the Federal government - including, of course, the President!

So let's get this straight; If you say anything negative about Janet Napolatano, Homeland Security, Congress, the President, the EPA, FCC, and so on, these "contractors" are "intelligence gathering" on you. DHS has admitted that they have monitored social networks for negative opinions against the government, but they claim (promise) that that was just a test and that it did NOT meet their operational requirements or privacy standards. Besides, it would be against an individual's First Amendment Rights.

Hummmm.... Didn't they already say that they had done just that? "Just ignore the man behind the curtain" (Wizzard of Oz reference.
Here is a brief list of what the Federal government is looking for and may consider subversive, potential terrorists, or radical:
  • Membership in the Tea Party
  • "Anti-government socialist and fascist radicals" - Does NOT include the OWS because Obama likes them!
  • Anyone protesting the "restoration of constitutional integrity"
  • Anyone associated with the "Sovereign Citizen Movement."
  • Anyone who underpays taxes or commits other fraud.
  • Any member of an anarchist group (apparently they missed President Obama's Communists Van Jones, Anita Dunn, and others)
  • Any blogs against the government
  • Positive or negative reports on FEMA, CIA, ICE and other federal agencies.
  • Anything on Guantanamo or its detainees.
Here are some websites that HMS is monitoring on a regular basis:
  • Twitter
  • FaceBook
  • Drudge Report
  • Huffington Post
  • Homeland Security Watch
  • WikiLeaks
  • Google Blog Search
  • Threat level
  • Danger Room
  • Foreign Policy Passport
  • MEMRI
  • And lots more...

Feel Safe
You should all feel much safer now because Big Brother is clearly watching over you. Actually, if you don't see any threat to these activities, then you're part of the problem. You're one of people who do NOT see the Big Picture of how our freedoms are being destroyed daily! Shame on you.

If you're one of the people who feel threatened, then welcome to the club. Tell your friends and family how you feel and why they should be concerned as well. America is dissolving in your eyes.
