Paying It Forward

Hard Times
These are truely hard times. People who apply for food stamps are required to have very limited resources. They must not have bank account balances over $2,000. If the applicant is over the age of 60, they can't have a bank balance over $3,000.

Personal income for a single applicant is generally less than $1,200 per month to qualify. This requirement jumps to $1,600 for a two person family and $2,000 for a three person family. No matter how you look at it, that's not a whole lot of income for anyone nowadays.

Reality in America
In our current economic situation, it's not hard to see why that over 45 MILLION people are dependent on food stamps. Besides, there is more unemployment than what the government reports. The main stream media (MSM) only reports what the government tells them and that's not the whole picture! Obama is the ONLY President on record to have this many Americans depending on government assistance, since it became government policy. Hence his nickname "The Food Stamp President," which he hates, but has deeply earned.

Survey Says...
In a recent Rasmussen poll, it was discovered that 53% of Americans want food stamp recipients to be finger printed! They compare it to voting and being required to show a valid government identification. Several people feel that "begars can't be choosers." Some even want them to submit to random drug testing. In fact, several states, (including New York) already have this as a requirement for getting food stamps. If you don't want to be finger printed, you don't receive the food stamps. Most recipients comply because they have nothing to hide from the government. Finger printing does help prevent fraud.

The True Purpose
One thing for sure, accepting food stamps is a humbling experience. We know this from personal experience many years ago. Ideally, people relying on food stamps will be able to find work and get off of them after a while. The original intent was to help those who needed it until they could get back on their feet again. However, too often, many individuals today believe that the government owes them a lot of different things - food being one of them. They mistakenly think it's a "right." These people should try and remember, that what the government gives, the government can take-away just as easily! If you depend totally on the government for you existence, you are putting yourself in harms way and giving the government total control over you!

Action To Take
If you know of someone who needs assistance, and you can afford to help, please do so. Expect nothing in return. Just help a fellow person for the sake of helping. Help them to recover their circumstances so they can become self-sustaining once again. This is called "paying it forward." You may make new friends for life.
