The Unlawful Patriot Act

It's Unconstitutional
Are you aware that the Patriot Act is unlawful? It violates the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution! When it was first passed under the Bush administration, Congress never had any discussion regarding it. They just passed it without reading it! Sound familiar? Now parts of the Act are up for renewal and Congress wants to keep it alive by reinstating it!

The 4th Amendment states:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized"

This was written by the Founders because the British had established a police state and they could search virtually any home they liked, any time they liked, for any reason or for no reason at all! The Patriot Act does the very same thing to American citizens ignoring the Constitution!

US Senate Still Wants It!
Currently the US Senate is arguing about the Patriot Act on how long to extend it. REALLY? The Patriot Act allows "roving surveillance of targets." Anyone who the government deems to pose a threat to the government can be a target! ANYONE! Once designated, the government can collect business records and other tangible intelligence records to be used against YOU! The can issue their own search warrant without any court intervention. Once you are served, you CANNOT even tell your lawyer that you are being investigated! The government can detain you INDEFINITELY or throw you on a plane to a foreign country for "Rendition" which is torture!

Senator Chuck Grassley (R, Iowa) justifies these Constitutional violations by saying "The threat of terrorism isn't going away so we must provide our agents with the tools they need to get the job done... and that "Given that terrorist threats, including those from self-radicalized individuals, continue to evolve, we must ensure that our law enforcement agents are not burdened with new restrictions on existing authorities."

Throw Away Your Rights
Under the guise of "National Security" Congress thinks it's OK to trash you God given liberties! Senator Leahy (D, VT) said "We should not play politics with national security." Oh REALLY? What about playing politics with FREEDOM?

Action To Take
ANY extension of the Patriot Act should be considered UNCONSTITUTIONAL! It creates a POLICE STATE here in America! STRONGLY oppose ANY extension of the Patriot Act. Let Congress know this or say "Hello Comrade" when there's a knock at the door.
