10 Facts About Economic Collapse

Here is my summary from and article written by Michael Snyder of beforeitsnews.com. The article is titled "10 Things That We Can Learn About Shortages and Preparation From The Economic Collapse In Greece."

My Summary
Basically when a nations economy collapses, everything changes over night. Since the world's economy is all linked together, when one county's bank collapses, it affects all of the other banks in every country - including those here in the USA!

Today, we are witnessing an economic collapse in Greece. We can learn from it so that we can be prepared and know what to expect if the dominoes fall here in America as some have predicted.

Here's what you can expect:
  1. Medicines are one of the first tings to become scarce. If you rely on them for your survival, what will you do without them? Recent reports have shown that here in America, we have already experienced shortages of certain vaccines. Food for thought!
  2. Food shortages actually become a reality. Our food distribution system here in America is extremely vulnerable. We cannot count on going to the store during a prolonged economic crisis. They simply won't have what you need.
  3. Often in an economic crisis, the power grid collapses. It's unimportant as to how this may happen, it IS important to realize that it CAN and probably WILL happen. How long can you live where you are without any electrical power? How long could you go without power? Will your toilets be able to flush? Think about it!
  4. Without a power grid, you cannot trust your water supply - even if it's still available! How long can you go without drinking water? THREE DAYS! After that things go downhill quickly and you DIE! Do you know how to purify water without boiling it? You should!
  5. Your credit cards will probably become worthless. The financial system will be in lock-down and so will your credit! Can you live without your charge cards?
  6. Anarchy will break-out. There will be riots, looting, and much worse if you live in a big city. Have you ever been in a riot? They're NASTY and DANGEROUS for all.
  7. Cash money will loose its value - especially paper money. So even if you have a stash of cash, it will change its value negatively. It will take more to purchase what it used to buy - if you can find it.
  8. Bartering becomes a common means of exchange. As primitive as it seems, this system becomes the norm during a collapse. You exchange your skills, goods, or services for something of value from someone else.
  9. There usually is an increase in suicides. Statistically, this is a well-known fact. Many cannot deal with the mental stress of a collapse.
  10. The government will NOT be there to help you! Count on it! You will have to be self-sufficient. You cannot count on Big Government to help. Remember Hurricane Katrina!
Think It's A Joke
Those people who think that an economic collapse could never happen here in America are living in the Land of Oz. Isn't it better to consider these as possible things and have a plan so you know what to do during a crisis? If not, just continue keeping your head in the sand ignoring it. You'll be one of the first casualties.
