The 2nd Bill of Rights

Most Americans are not familiar with this piece of history. We once had a Second Bill of Rights proposed, but never formally adopted.

As you may know our Bill of Rights (the first ten amendments) was based on Natural Law as mentioned in a previous topic. These rights were written down to preserve and protect our God given liberties.

The Second Bill of Rights was proposed during FDR's (Franklin Delano Roosevelt's) State of the Union address in 1944. It was issued not on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but rather on security and prosperity. Roosevelt's Second Bill of Rights are as follows:

"The right to useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation; to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation; of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living; of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad; of every family to a decent home; to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health; to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment; to a good education." These are not based on Natural Law. Instead, they are based on government promises of utopia! How can these promises be guaranteed and by whom can they be guaranteed? Answer: By the government and they cannot guarantee anything - except control. The net affect of the so called "rights" is that private property and liberty go together. Individuals surrender control to the government. Hence, the individual serves the state.

Is that where we are headed today America? We haven't heard these words but what about the actions of our government? Do you feel well-off with the government owning automobile factories? Is it assuring to have the government control our banking systems, insurance companies, home mortgages, Wall Street and credit companies? Who is REALLY in charge here?

America is starting to become aware that something is haywire. Something's wrong here. You feel it in your gut. This isn't right. It has to stop. It's gone too far.

Follow Your Instincts
We need to start acting America. We have instincts and they are making us feel uncomfortable. Instincts are how we survive! We used to depend on them more a long time ago. Now we have been "droned" into an almost hypnotic trance. But our instincts are still working. They are telling us we are in DANGER. Our inherent aptitude is awakening and giving us the Red warning flag. Follow your instinct! Start worrying and take action!

What To Do
Attend a town meeting while your representatives are home from Washington. Let them know you disapprove of their voting record and demand they listen to YOUR concerns. If you can't go, call them!

Join a tea party. Join Twitter. Join Face Book. Write your own blog. Become politically active. Watch Glenn Beck on Fox TV. Read a book like "Common Sense" or "Liberal Fascism", or "The 5000 Year Leap." Do Something. Before you know it you will have plenty to do to help protect the Constitution.

Grass Roots Start Slow
The momentum is growing. Be patient. Stay active. Watch the progress.

  1. There is no such thing as 'God given liberties'. If there were, we wouldn't have situations like we do in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

    Our liberties were achieved through hard work, blood, and commitment by a dedicated group of people (the Founders).

    If anything, the current state of the world proves that if there is a god, he really doesn't care much about his 'children'

    Can you give me a pointer to site that explains what you mean by "Natural Law"? I also believe in Natural Law. However, my belief excludes anything supernatural, and is based on reason, while god is apparently a major figure in your idea of Natural Law.

    The God given liberties are stated as follows:

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness..." (The US Constitution).

    The word "Creator" is a reference to God. This refers to our God given liberties.

    As to whether there is a God or not, I refuse to argue with you. Religion is based on faith and not logic. Whether you have faith, is a moot point. We could spend an infinite amount of time discussing the philosopy of religion. I choose not to do this.
